An increasing number of locations in Victoria each year are designated termite-prone areas. The Building Regulations Act in 2018 allows councils to declare and designate areas in which buildings are more likely to have termite activity. This means that if you intend to build or require a building permit for a new home or addition in a termite-declared area, you must have a termite barrier system in place before a certificate of occupancy can be issued.
